The temps are expected to hit 108 F (some sources say 110 F) and the shoot was going to be outside. I thought the better of it… though reluctantly.
So, at about 5 PM yesterday I sent out a message to see if everyone involved was up to moving the shoot to the following Saturday which has the promise of more reasonable temperatures . It was a resounding YES… and everyone responded within 5 minutes!
I then contacted our crack production manager to reschedule with the venue… which she did. Executive decision arrived at, action taken and multiple cases of heat stroke averted… at least for this weekend.
I have to admit that part of me was rearing to go and felt a little let down by having to reschedule. But really, it’s only for one day because we are starting the shoot on Sunday for a different scene that takes place indoors.
It’s been a while since I’ve been this excited about a project. OK… fine… it’s been a while since I’ve embarked on one. (details, details…)
There is a certain giddy buzz that comes with a new creative project that I’ve missed terribly. I guess the rush is a bit like falling in love when the world of possibilities open up and seem so vast and limitless. It’s a pretty primo feeling, I can tell ya. (No, I’m not going to break out into a song and dance routine now.)
Of course, as with any creative project, it’s potential success is tied to the preparation of pre-production. That’s another area that I’m pleased as punch with. It has also been a while since I’ve felt this prepared on a project.
Though there is still more to go… there always is. Which is where the postponement of tomorrow’s shoot comes in. It affords me an extra day to fine tune the storyboards and the shot list… all in the comfort of a cool air conditioned room. So, yay me!
But it’s not done until it’s done. This is only the start. Let’s hope everything ahead runs smooth.
Cheers and have a good weekend.
