… and who pitch in the most difficult and challenging of circumstances without question or protest. You all count big and continue to rock!

I’m going to be AWOL…
… for a while. There are home situations that need my focused attention and energy.
i’ve been quoted?
Hmmm I guess my last post was quoted HERE… on one of my badly constructed sentences too. lol.
The sun is out today so I’m gonna get the laundry done first. Then perhaps I’ll post more. Just can’t predict what adventures will take place during that activity.
EDIT:
A sunny but cold day here in the Big No. It’s nice to see the sun again though… been a stranger for a while.
I’ve decided today that I’m moving Mum’s bed into the living room. She is a lot more comfortable there and it is the warmest room in the house… being there is a floor heater that just cranks there. Plus it is a short straight walk to the loo.
Wer did do some shooting tonight but a lot more will be done over this week. I want to wrap it up and start cutting by next week. I’m pretty sure it’s not going to win any awards but there is some great and funny stuff in so far.
Now, off to doing some edit work for clients and mopping up the kitchen and living room. Oh, and 13 boxes of the Rogue Map is due to arrive today… I think.
still some more to go but…
… the site has gone “live”. Go ahead… click the thumbnail… all the performers and artists for Rogue Performance Festival 2008 are now listed. And if you are in the state or a neighboring one (heck, even if you are halfway around the world) you should seriously consider turning up. It’s always a lot of fun and with the prices – talk about bang for your entertainment buck! (And if you say you are I will steer you to affordable accomodation nearby.) OK… hard sell over… though expect more on the Rogue over the next few weeks. In the meantime… STEAL A BANNER HERE!
Oh, I got an exciting email tonight. My (and Kien’s) friend Karim is planning to make the trek to the festival. We all went to school together and this will be the first time in 30 years that we will be in the same place. Pretty exciting stuff!
Even though there is still more work ahead I finally feel I can breathe now. Time to jump head first into this crazy movie that I’m constructing.
Perhaps more later.
EDIT: BLOGGING THE ROGUE! (Reprinted from http://roguefestival.com)
Whether you are a performer, artist, volunteer or audience member you are invited to BLOG THE ROGUE!
HOW DOES THIS WORK?
a. Just leave a link and name of your blog in the comment HERE and we will add you to the “Blogging Rogue 2008″ list.
b. When you write a Rogue 2008 related blog just add the tag *rogueblog08” to it. Depending on the blog client you are using you can also add it as a category or simply add “rogueblog08” to the end of your post. This could be for posts, videos, pictures, etc.
Remember that’s “rogueblog08“! (This will make it easier for the search engines to find your post.)
WHAT DO I BLOG ABOUT?
Anything! Perhaps you are preparing for a Rogue show in this year’s festival… or you are planning to see shows… or what happened when you saw a show… or… heck, anything that is Rogue Festival related!
THIS SOUNDS LIKE FUN BUT I DON’T HAVE A BLOG.
You can start one today… most of them are free! Here are some choices Blogger, WordPress, TypePad or MySpace.
That’s pretty much it. Happy Rogue Blogging!
not done yet… (with edit)
… still have the Mainstage and Galleries to go… but you want a peek? CLICK HERE
EDIT:
Before I get back to working the site (and while a new pot of coffee is brewing) I though I’d try to fill up more of a post.
- First, MEGA THANK YOU’s are in order to thereminman, RainyPete and Mark Leslie who have contributed videos to my movie project! The footage is fabulous and I will be using a lot of it when I begin cutting furiously next week. For those of you who still want to get in on this… there is still time… you may want to read THIS & THIS.
- Also thank you to those who allowed me to shoot them on a local level. Some of it is sick and wrong but funny nevertheless.
- This is going to be another crazy week of work but an attitude adjustment last night has helped.
Cheers!
just thought… (with edit)
I’d try a different template for the weekend.
EDIT:
- What a difference this morning makes. The sun is out and it’s 10 AM and I’m already on my second load of laundry. (2 more to go before the day is out. So unlike yesterday when I got hardly anything done. Perhaps it has something to do with the freshness of the java I’m slurping on.
- Have to admit I’ve been a tad melancholy of late. I’m hoping it’s just the overcast weather we’ve been experiencing of late. There is a one day respite today but all indications are that it will be overcast again starting tomorrow all the way until Wednesday. Blech!
- For those of you in California or neighboring states… just a reminder that the 2008 Rogue Festival runs Feb.28 – Mar.8. You should seriously consider making the trek to it… even just for the weekend. Always a fun time and it would be a great opportunity to meet. More details to follow.
- I’ve been slogging on the Rogue Festival 2008 site the past week. The link will take you to the pre-festival site… I’m hoping the new one will go “live” before the weekend is out. In the meantime check out the google map I created to show all the venues for this year below. Oh and you can steal a banner of your choice for your site or blog HERE!
HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND!
Da Count – blog friends

When I started blogging in 2005 little did I think that others would read this blog let alone I would make friends with other bloogers in the sphere. Yes, there was a blog pod of friends in my real life who had also taken it up and most of the activity on my site came mainly from them. As time went on and especially through my participation with HNT I began to garner some other “regulars” who came by on days other than Thursday. I dare say these good folk I do now consider my friends… at least I hope they think I am.
My oldest of bloggy friends outside my physical realm of insanity is KFarmer. This feisty southern bird is a salt of the earth straight shooting kinda woman who presently hails from Georgia. She did disappear from the blog world for a while (but I kept her link active) and she returned much to my delight.
I could give you a short biography but you should really get to know her for yourself via HER BLOG. I do know she is a damn fine cook (I have recently sampled her baking prowess), a fiercely loving Mom and wonderful wife. But more importantly this woman has a heart of gold and one of the first bloggers whom I felt true simpatico with.
I also happen to think she is beautiful… and I once told her that in no uncertain terms…to which she responded that I was a “silver tongued fox”. Speaking of tongues there is a secret talent that she has yet to share with the world. She RAPS! I once wrote a joke post on a cd I wanted to produce called “Bum Rap” and she took one of the titles listed and composed a rap. lol.

Then there is Lime. This funny, sharp, witty wonderful person is usually one of the first to jump in on the hairbrained schemes that I am wont to pitch every once in a while here in the blog world. (Yeah, there is a reason why these two beautiful women are wearing sarongs in their pics.)
Lime hails from the PA part of the world and truly has a heart full of adventure… sometimes to the detriment of her own physical well being. But she bounces back with gusto and verve. Once again, I will encourage you to get to know her through HER BLOG… which, not surprisingly has a wide readership. I also suspect that she has more talent than she will give herself credit for. Really, just read her posts and it will be totally evident.
Her creativity really shines through her life. Whether as a Mom, wife or with the individual life episodes that she chooses to share on her blog. The Art of Life that she actively practices is one of the things that I admire most about Lime.
I once described blogging as meeting at the fountain of the town square to share our lives with others. These are 2 of a few people who have made my visits and life richer at these meetings. Not only through the lives they share but also for the care and compassion they have given and I am proud and privileged to count them as my friends. I am hoping that some day our meeting will be more real than virtual.

it’s 4 AM but I’m liking it!
I hit the sack early last night to the patter of the rain outside. Just zonked out early. It was just as well too as the day felt somewhat unaccomplished even though I had been working all day.
I do like this time of the day… especially waking to the stillness outside. I first noticed this in my younger days. There was just something exciting and hopeful about the impending dawn. Though part of it was also holding on to the magic of a great night that I never wanted to end. In my “clubbing days” back in Malaysia this was the time that was shared in fellowship over a meal of steaming Bak Kut Teh at a street stall after a night of dancing. Conversations usually revolved around some kind of exciting (and often hairbrainerd) scheme… some of which came to fruition and others fell by the wayside. But it was the fun of plotting that I remember most.
It was my favorite time of day to write as well especially in my twenties and thirties. I would just crank out my drivel with ease and gusto. My output was usually 2 to 3 times more than when I wrote at other times of the day. Hmm… maybe I should return to that routine.
There were times when the noggin was cranking overtime and when the spew was becoming a murky torrent I would take a walk to the local convenience store to get a snack but more to streamline my thoughts. This is when the stillness of the time was really apparent. The odd jogger would cross my path and we would acknowledge each other’s presence with a slight nod. There was always an equal amount of slight surprise at what each of us were doing out at this ungodly hour mixed with a simpatico of the solace found at the time. Usually a slight sly smile would curve on the lip that we shared a common secret.
Of late I have been sleeping in on most mornings. Not that I have anything against that… once in a while. I find though that waking to the “noise” of the day that has already dawned makes me feel somewhat lethargic.
Anyway… a new day is upon us… hope you have a good one.
psst… hey, wanna banner?
Perhaps something like this?
Oh, there are others too. CLICK HERE TO STEAL ONE! Plus the fest is running between Feb. 28 – Mar. 8… the site will be up in a few days (it’s one of the things that filling my plate these days)… so, maybe you wanna check it out.
yes, it is true…
… when I’m on a project I become a social recluse. OK… more accurately… I become selective with who I want to deal with and when. After a few years of doing what I do I’ve learned that a project vibe is a fragile thing that can easily be clobbered off-track if one is not careful. Then it takes a bugger of an effort to get it back on and riding into a groove again.
Strange why this is. Now, for the most part I am a pretty amiable fellow who can be accommodating to a fault. But don’t expect that from me in periods like these when I’m on a project. I don’t become less amiable… just more selective. There are just certain types of people that fuel the momentum of the vibe and others who don’t. Not that I like the latter group any less… but they have the tendency to strip the “cozy” away from what I am doing. It’s a little akin to having a new lover that you don’t quite want to share with the world at large just yet.
We started shooting tonight for real. It was fun. My friend Jana was in town from LA and we shot a segment with her. Just wacky, silly stuff that I think is a great kick-off to this project. (And let me say… the camera loves her.) The lovely Joy’s rock-star coat played a prominent part and she (Joy) is now demanding that it (her coat) gets screen acting credit. I’m just wondering how this IMDB listing is going to look. Anyway, a good time was had by all and I can only hope the rest of it will be too.
Hope you have a good Tuesday. Cheers!
